For the past few months, I have been adding small things to DA Buddy, like more Items and Skins. Then I added a new level of user control by creating the scripting engine and making it accessible. The next step is to take user control even further by adding new (and more user friendly) abilities. Things I would like to add...

- A physical constraint system so that objects can be constrained to areas. IE: Ropes, platforms, etc. These will be able to be set by the user through some kind of interface, or through the scripting engine.
- Creation of objects with dynamic attributes. For example one might create a baseball that weighs 10 kg, lights on fire whenever it hits an object above a certain speed, and explodes on contact with the buddy. The actions the object performs (explode for example) when an event (such as touching the buddy) occurs will be able to be selected from a group of presets that have adjustable properties (for example a 'force' variable for the explosion) OR created entirely from scratch using the scripting engine.
- Ability to save the 'stage' with all item positions and properties intact. This one is a maybe though, since a well written script in the scripting engine can accomplish the same thing.

As always, suggestions and comments of any kind are welcome! The latest version can be found here:…

Note that I am updating it often, usually at least once per week, so it is worth bookmarking! Also, when I get a final version that I am happy with, I plan to release it to more websites. First on that list is, so if you frequent that website, be on the lookout!
Well I released DA Buddy v2, which you can view right here...…

It was actually released some time ago, but I never got around to making a journal entry. The version on DA is actually somewhat outdated, as I am continuing to improve it for a release. Anyway, I don't have much time for DA these days but in a few weeks I should have much more and thus you can expect more Deviations from me soon.
Well I am on the verge of submitting DeviantArt Buddy v2.0, but DA has a glitch going on where the Flash file must be displayed full screen in the browser rather than embedded in the page as it is supposed to be. As soon as that is fixed, DeviantArt Buddy v2 will be submitted.
Well, so far Buddy v2 is coming along amazingly well. Check my scraps to see a working alpha version if you want to get a taste of it. After doing so, please post any ideas for weapons/skins/anything else that you would like to see implemented. I don't think I'm going to continue to upload new alpha versions to DA though, I think I'll wait until it's completely finished and post the final version. But again, I encourage you to give me more ideas. One idea that someone gave me on a different forum was a stun gun, which I had never thought of before. I put it in, and it's amazingly fun to use (it's not in the alpha posted in my scraps section though). So if you guys give me more good ideas the finished product will be that much more fun.

As for AVS, I haven't really done to much with it lately, but I have enjoyed the stuff that some other AVSers have released recently.
Buddy v2 is really shaping up nicely. A ton of new features are implemented and everything is working well so far with no unfixable bugs or glitches.

Some of what you'll see...
--A physics/collision system.
--Multiple skins.
--Better buddy movement (now with rotation!)
--Tons more ways to interact with the guy (throw stuff at him, explosives, godlike powers, I'll also probably add guns although they aren't in just yet)
--More varied reactions from the buddy based on how you interact with him
--Noticably better graphics/effects
--A money system (all items/skins cost money, get more money by beating up the buddy)

... and I still have lots more to add. If you have any other ideas, post them and I'll consider adding them (no gaurantees though). Overall, I'd have to say that it's a hell of a lot more fun to beat up the buddy now then it was before, and that is a very good thing. As for when it will be done and released, I don't know and I'd rather not set a date that I'd probably end up missing.
Well obviously interactivity is a big part of "Total Immersion" and I really enjoyed making the presets (especially "Architectural Design") react to the user. Further, I think interactive art is a very underdeveloped concept on DeviantArt. Therefore my next few projects will probably be interactive creations developed using Flash. I feel there is a huge potential in this area for some very original submissions.

As for AVS, my next pack will actually be more traditional, with less interactive elements and more focus on style. I think I am going to aim for a darker feel for my presets as well.

So, those are my plans as far as DeviantArt is concerned.
... So anyway I'm definately going to try my hand at some other DA categories before making more AVS, I have decided that. Also, Jheriko, send me your remix! Just post it in that thread as soon as possible so I can edit the pack to include it!
That's right, the pack is 99.99% completed (I'm only waiting on one remix, which I expect to recieve soon). The installer is set to go using PimpBot, I just have to recompile when I get that last remix. The presets are all finalized. After this pack I might try to create some things in the other sections of DeviantArt (Digital Art, Prose, etc.) but I won't forget AVS either. I don't know if I'll ever make another full pack though, because this one took an immensely long time (started it right after Energy, and that was back in September).
That's right, "Total Immersion" is pretty much done. It clocks in at 20 original presets+intro+credits+remixes. Hopefully that will be enough to satisfy (although that's less presets than "Energy"). Now I just have to do the extra stuff like write comments, make installer, etc. Expect a release by the end of next week.
This one is much better than the last (although the last one was made entirely in AVS, which was pretty cool). It's much sharper and visually appealing. What do you think?
I fixed some bugs in my building creation preset and made some other presets run a bit faster. I'm also trying to think of a new and creative way to use gmegabuf() in a previously unthought of way. Hmm...

I hope these journals don't seem too boring since I'm pretty much only describing AVS and not the rest of my life. However, at least until my pack is released, they are going to be centered on AVS.
I guess that's what happens when you go to bed at 11:30 and wake up at 5:00 for three days straight.
I had other more pressing things to do today, so I didn't work on AVS too much. I tweeked a few presets here and there though and added a couple of comments. This pack is gonna be a good one! I think I have something for everyone in here, and I still have more presets to make yet.

Hopefully I can still keep updating this journal every day, and I see no reason why I can't. Still looking for AVS ideas, by the way, if anybody has anything they want me to take a shot at making.
I added a new preset to "Total Immersion". I've also been endlessly tweeking all the other ones I have so far and adding tons of subtle little interactive features. To me, no preset is ever done, just abandoned.

If anyone has any ideas for new presets, share them with me! I want to hear what you want to see in this upcoming pack. I still have about five or six presets to make, at least, so there is some time. Even if your ideas are crazy, I want to hear them, regardless of whether I end up using them. I'll give you guys some credit, too, if you give me a good idea for a preset, because I am running dangerously low on ideas right now.
Well, I'm still getting used to DA and figured I should start writing some journals! Anyway, I've got twenty presets made for my upcoming pack, "Total Immersion". I don't know what the final number will be, but I'm really aiming for quality here, not number. Hopefully I'll get at least 25 good ones. We'll see. Depends on how much time I have.

The presets I have so far are really looking good though, and I think I'll easily accomplish my goal of outdoing "Energy". Things you'll see: hazardous slime, white blood cells, grafitti, function graphs, fancy chessboards, a neon showdown, and an architectural design studio! Consider that a teaser.

Next on my things to do: make a DA avatar. I think I'll do that today.
